Ferrovial Agroman continue to engage the wider community

Category: General / 16 December 2013

The Ferrovial Agroman team has not slowed down and has continued to engage the wider construction community at a series of conferences across London.

Helping to support local growth through their London based projects, Ferrovial Agroman representatives attended both the Heathrow Business Summit and Skills London event to great success.

Heathrow Business Summit 2013 (formally Heathrow Meet the Buyer)

Established to provide SME’s and small independent businesses operating within the boroughs surrounding Heathrow to meet with and promote their organisation to Contractors undertaking works for Heathrow, Ferrovial Agroman UK have attended and supported this event since 2007.

Held in November, the day allowed representatives from the Ferrovial Agroman Procurement Team to directly meet with 25 individual suppliers. The scope of the services offered by the suppliers was varied and ranged from traditional construction related activities such as mechanical and electrical contracting, to support services such as serviced apartments and personnel recruitment. Ferrovial Agroman consider attendance at this event as an essential part of building a robust supply chain to support their construction activities at Heathrow while supporting businesses and the wider community.

Some of the suppliers and subcontractors used on the Ferrovial Agroman T2A and T3IB projects were first introduced to the company at Heathrow Meet the Buyer events held in previous years. The company look forward to supporting this event well into the future as it continues to work at Heathrow Airport.

Skills London

Ferrovial Agroman, as part of the BFK (BAM Ferrovial Kier) joint venture, sent a team of representatives to attend Skills London - the biggest annual recruitment event in London. Attended by over 32,000 people this year, the JV used the opportunity to recruit 5 new apprentices from the many interested candidates who attended the projects exhibition.

Located at the ExCeL Centre, Skills London showcases employment and learning opportunities including apprenticeships, education, training, employment internships for 15 – 24 year olds. BFK set up a stall at the exhibition for the second year running and supported the Crossrail display close by. The BFK stall was one of the busiest in the construction area.

The display included an interactive Crossrail quiz, a construction worker cut out so visitors could be photographed wearing virtual PPE, application forms for potential apprentices, BFK giveaways and plenty of BFK volunteers to provide career advice.

Ferrovial Agroman continues to be involved with the local communities where they work and aims to leave a positive lasting legacy for the generations to come.
