Ferrovial Agroman professionals succeed at WICE Awards

Category: General / 26 May 2017

Concepción Vicente, Project Manager at Tideway Central, wins Best Woman Contractor; and Agnieszka Wisniewska, Works Manager at Budimex, wins Best Young Woman in Construction at the 2017 Women in Construction and Engineering Awards.

The WICE Awards recognise the most exemplary women within construction and engineering across Europe and their contribution to the industry. Celebrated on 24 May 2017, the awards ceremony took place in Central London and was attended by all 15 of our Ferrovial Agroman finalists. Support for our candidates was in force from across the international business including the attendance of Maria Dionis, Chief HR Officer of Ferrovial.

Concepción has a career spanning 16 years in the industry, delivering major residential schemes as well as civils and infrastructure projects. Currently the only woman Project Manager on the Tideway scheme, she is committed to driving the change the industry needs to make it a more diverse and inclusive career option for future engineers.

Concepción said: "I feel extremely lucky to have the opportunity to develop my career doing a job that I feel passionately about, in an industry that actually makes a real difference to society and people's lives. It is an honour to receive this award - and also to have got to know so many of the other brilliant women at Ferrovial Agroman." Our support for each other throughout this process has been truly valuable and was even recognised by the judges throughout the assessment. This one is for all of us!"

It is the second consecutive year that Ferrovial Agroman has won the Best Woman Contractor category at the WICE Awards.

We could not be more proud of all of the Ferrovial Agroman UK finalists. Congratulations to Sofía Agullo, in the category of Best Young Woman Engineer; Gema Araque, Best Woman Civil Engineer; Ana Aser, Best Woman in Tunneling & Underground Construction; Carolina Delgado, Best Woman Architect; Beatriz Eiroa, Best Woman Contractor; Elena Perea, Best Young Woman Engineer; Karen Tan, Best Woman in Construction Law; and Gemma Teale, Best Woman Civil Engineer.
