Heathrow Development Safety Awards

Local news

Ferrovial Agroman receives accolades for its commitment to Health & Safety on Heathrow projects.

The very first Heathrow Development Safety Awards ceremony was held on Thursday 31st January 2013 at the Marriott Hotel, Bath Road. Attended by representatives from the numerous companies involved in Heathrow Development Projects, the evening showcased the excellent work being carried out across the airport’s construction activity from a Health & Safety perspective.

It was a particularly rewarding evening for Ferrovial Agroman since it received the highest accolades for Health and Safety leadership for its Terminal 2A, Terminal 3 Integrated Baggage, Terminal 2A Stands, and Terminal 2B Apron projects.

Among the awards presented on the evening were:

Leadership Award (Winner)

Ferrovial Agroman and HETCo, the joint venture company formed with Laing O’Rourke for the construction of Terminal 2A, were awarded the Leadership prize twice in recognition of the individuals or teams that have made a significant contribution to the reduction of accidents and incidents.

Sean Rath, Airport Civils HSE Manager, for outstanding contribution and leadership across Ferrovial Agroman activities at Heathrow.
Richard Byrne, HETCo HSE Manager, for his commitment and exemplary approach to Health and Safety at Terminal 2A.

Project award (Highly Commended)

Awarded to Ferrovial Agroman in recognition of the T3IB project for demonstrating an outstanding Health & Safety performance and for moving the Heathrow Health & Safety agenda forward in 2012.

Terminal 3 Integrated Baggage: More steel than is in the Eiffel Tower has gone into the T3IB building in 7 months without any impact to operations or the project Health & Safety record. This was just one of the factors that makes this project truly stand out and led to its recognition at the awards.

Sam Doble, HETCo for championing the 12 for 2012 Health and Safety campaign throughout the year.

His leadership and commitment to accident prevention has meant his team has been able to deliver high quality steel works to the client’s requirements without compromising on health and safety.

An award for the implementation of a behavioural safety programme which has contributed greatly.

  • Astins, (HETCo supplier at T2A) for their Make a Difference campaign
