Stronger Together for the Philippines

Category: General / 10 February 2014

The Philippines still continues to face one of the worst times in its history as it tries to recover from the devastating typhoon Haiyan which made landfall in the Tacloban region on 8 November, destroying entire towns, wiping out millions of homes and leaving more than 6 million children at grave risk.

To help support the millions of misplaced citizens, Ferrovial Agroman UK and Ireland in conjunction with its parent company Ferrovial, launched the ‘Stronger Together for the Philippines’ Appeal.

Raising donations to support the work of Red Cross and Manos Unidas as they assist in the recovery efforts in the area, over 300 Ferrovial Agroman UK employees banded together to raise 11,450 euros for this important cause.

The amount raised was then doubled by Ferrovial as part of their commitment to the appeal, generating a total of 22,900 euros. As part of the wider campaign participated in by Ferrovial subsidiary companies across the globe, Ferrovial was able to make a total joint donation of 120,588 euros.

This aid has now been allocated to the emergency and reconstruction projects run by both NGOs who have worked in the region for more than 25 years and specialise in emergency response to major catastrophes.

The proceeds raised by Ferrovial Agroman UK and Ireland was contributed through individual donations from employees based at various projects and in conjunction with money raised during the annual Christmas Party.

Both are NGOs that Ferrovial has partnered with in the past and that have operated in the region for some time. Both humanitarian organisations wish to thank Ferrovial's employees for their generosity and encourage them to follow their work in the Philippines via their respective websites.
